GABON/COUPES ILLÉGALES ET RÉCUPÉRATION DES BOIS ABANDONNÉS, LEE WHITE LANCE LES OPÉRATIONS D’IDENTIFICATION
Coupe des bois abandonnés, le ministre Lee White procède à la récupération, l’identification et la valorisation de ces espèces. Il l’a fait savoir le 30 novembre 2020 à Libreville.
Le ministère des Eaux, des Forêts, de la Mer, de l’Environnement, chargé du Plan Climat et du Plan d’Affectation des Terres, porte à la connaissance du public qu’une opération d’identification, de récupération et de valorisation des bois abandonnés sur l’ensemble du territoire est en cours depuis le 09 juillet 2020. Cette opération s’inscrit dans la volonté du ministre des Eaux & Forêts, Professeur Lee White, de mettre fin à l’exploitation sauvage et illégale des ressources forestières dans notre pays. « A ce jour, les premières actions de récupération des bois abandonnés ont été lancées dans les provinces du Woleu-Ntem et de l’Ogooué-Ivindo. Cette opération vise à mettre fin aux pratiques de coupes et d’exploitation illégales du bois, source de dégâts sociaux, économiques et environnementaux. Les bois abandonnés ou exploités sans autorisation sont la propriété de l’État qui peut légitiment procéder à leur valorisation. C’est aussi un moyen de lutter contre les pratiques de corruption conformément à la vision du Chef de l’État Ali Bongo ONDIMBA. », A déclaré le ministre des Eaux & Forêts.
Dans ce cadre et sur la base de la concertation avec les communautés locales, une partie des revenus issus de la valorisation des bois abandonnés sera reversée aux populations locales sous forme de financement direct de projets de développement communautaires tels que l’hydraulique villageoise, l’électrification des villages, la construction ou l’appui au fonctionnement d’écoles, le renforcement des infrastructures sanitaires et routières, et ceux liés à la gestion du conflit homme-faune.
il est à noter que dans le cadre de ladite opération, la procédure mise en place exclue les auteurs ou complices des coupes illégales de toute rétribution pour optimiser les bénéfices de l’État.
