GABON/PROTECTION DE LA COUCHE D’OZONE, LEE WHITE DÉVOILE LA FEUILLE DE ROUTE DES ACTIVITÉS 2021
Le ministre des Eaux, des Forêts, de la Mer, de l’Environnement, chargé du Plan Climat et du Plan d’Affectation des Terres, Prof. Lee White, accompagné du directeur général de l’Environnement et de la Protection de la Nature, M. Stanislas Stephen Mouba, a présidé le 4 décembre 2020 à la réunion annuelle du Comité National Ozone (CNO). Cette rencontre, qui a vu la participation des membres dudit comité, avait pour objectif de faite le point sur les actions menées par le Gabon afin de contribuer à la protection de la couche d’Ozone, et d’élaborer la feuille de route des activités de l’année 2021.
Plusieurs points étaient à l’ordre du jour notamment la désignation des membres du CNO, les enjeux de la lutte contre l’appauvrissement de la couche d’ozone, du cadre règlementaire de gestion des quotas d’importations des substances appauvrissant la couche d’ozone en République Gabonaise. Ce fut l’occasion pour le ministre des Eaux & Forêts, Professeur Lee White, de rappeler l’importance de la mutualisation des efforts entre les différents acteurs pour atteindre les objectifs fixés. « Conformément à la volonté du Chef de l’ État Ali Bongo Ondimba, le Gabon s’est engagé aux côtés de la communauté internationale pour répondre à ce double enjeu de santé écologique en adoptant la convention de Vienne, le protocole de Montréal et l’amendement de Kigali. Aussi, je vous exhorte ici à mutualiser toutes les énergies en vue de faire respecter les restrictions en vigueur et d’assurer la bonne gestion des gaz utilisés en République Gabonaise. », a-t-il déclaré. Pour rappel, le Comité National Ozone (CNO), mis en place en 2015, a pour objectif, d’une part, d’assurer la mise en œuvre, au niveau national, des accords internationaux ainsi que la Convention de Vienne et le protocole de Montréal adoptés en 1994 et d’autre part, de veiller à la lutte contre les substances appauvrissant la couche d’ozone (SAO), notamment dans le secteur du froid et de la réfrigération.
