Célébration en différé de la journée internationale de l’air pur pour des ciels bleus Stephan Bonda en faveur des solutions durables pour lutter contre la pollution de l’air au Gabon
Dans le cadre de la célébration en différé de la Journée internationale de l’air pur pour des ciels bleus, le ministre délégué auprès du ministre des Eaux et Forêts, de la Mer, de l’Environnement, chargé du Plan Climat et du plan d’Affectation des terres, Stéphane Bonda, a souligné la forte volonté du ministère de l’Environnement d’apporter des solutions durables pour lutter contre la pollution de l’air au Gabon. C’était le 15 septembre 2022 à Nkok dans la zone économique en présence de plusieurs acteurs et défenseurs de la cause environnementale.
Lors de son allocution, M. Stéphane Bonda a exhorté les opérateurs économiques de la zone économique spéciale (ZES) de Nkok à cesser la pratique de brûlage de déchets de bois à l’air libre ; et à favoriser la valorisation des déchets à travers le recyclage, afin de contribuer à la réduction des émissions atmosphériques et à améliorer la qualité de l’air que nous respirons.
« La majorité des industriels au sein de la zone économique spéciale de Nkok exercent dans le secteur bois et produisent beaucoup de déchets de bois, qui sont brulés et détruits à l’air libre. Cette pratique est à l’origine d’une émission importante de gaz à effet de serre (GES) et d’émission néfastes pour l’environnement, notamment les changements climatiques », a déclaré le ministre délégué de l’Environnement.
Rappelant que le Gabon, très engagé dans la protection de l’environnement, a pris des mesures importantes pour réduire la pollution de l’air, notamment à travers l’adhésion volontaire à la Coalition pour le Climat et l’Air Pur (CCAC) en 2020, le ministre délégué Stéphane Bonda a annoncé que des règlements interdisant le brûlage à ciel ouvert seront très prochainement élaborés. « Il s’ensuivra la mise en place de mécanismes de contrôle et de surveillance pour s’assurer de l’effectivité de ses mesures », a-t-il déclaré.
La célébration de cet évènement international a notamment été marquée par la remise du prix « Carbon Neutrality Pioneer », décerné aux entreprises qui ont limité leurs niveaux de GES (Greenply, Star Ply, Jurgua Wood et Wood Pro), et par la visite d’une usine de particules de bois qui favorisera la valorisation et un meilleur traitement des déchets de bois et la création d’emplois.
C’est en 2019 que l’Assemblée générale des Nations unies a désigné la date du 7 septembre comme Journée internationale de l’air pur pour des ciels bleus. Cette journée souligne l’importance de l’air pur et l’urgence des efforts à déployer pour améliorer la qualité de l’air afin de protéger la santé humaine.
