Gabon, La diversitée environnementale présentée à S.E Abdulla Shahid
Le Ministre des Affaires Etrangères, S.E Michaël Moussa Adamo et le Ministre des Eaux et Forêts, de la Mer, de l’Environnement, chargé du Plan Climat et du Plan d’Affectation des terres, le Professeur. Lee White, ont effectué le 18 Août 2022 en compagnie de S.E Abdulla Shahid, président de l’Assemblée générale des Nations-Unies (AGNUS) une visite du parc national de Loango situé dans la province de l’Ogooué maritime.
Outre la visite du parc national de Louango, Le ministre gabonais des Eaux et Forêt et le président de l’AGNU se sont également rendu à la Zone économique Spéciale de Nkok (GSEZ) pour effectuer une visite guidée des usines de transformation de bois et de l’Agence Gabonaise d’Etudes et d’Observations Spatiales (AGEOS).
Le Prof. Lee White s’est dit « honoré de promouvoir la gestion durable des forêts gabonaise, prônée par le Chef de l’Etat, Ali Bongo Ondimba», auprès de ce fervent défenseur de l’environnement activement engagé dans la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique et la dégradation de la biodiversité. « Ce fut l’occasion de montrer nos parcs, nos forêts et comment le Gabon entend développer l’écotourisme. Il était aussi question d’expliquer comment notre pays exploite ses forêts durablement tout en créant de la valeur ajoutée et des emplois, et en favorisant le développement d’une économie verte. J’espère que sa visite dans notre pays est le début d’une longue collaboration » a déclaré le Professeur Lee White.
Le président de l’AGNU s’est dit impressionné par le travail réalisé au Gabon : «J’ai eu le grand plaisir de visiter le parc national de Loango et de voir la densité des forêts gabonaise ; et à quel point elle a été protégée. En me rendant à la zone économique, j’ai vue comment le bois est transformé, utilisé, et valorisé. En résumé, c’est incroyable ! Le Gabon a amplifié les enjeux au niveau international et se distingue de la mêlée en matière de protection de l’environnement et de changement climatique ».
S.E. Abdulla Shahid, qui occupe aussi la fonction de Ministre des Affaires Etrangères des Maldives, est une personnalité largement connue pour ses talents exceptionnels d’homme politique et de diplomate chevronné.
