Gabon, la FAO participe à la 19ème Réunion des Parties du Partenariat pour les Forêts du Bassin du Congo
Promouvoir les initiatives de la FAO sur la gestion durable des forêts, de la faune et des chaînes de valeur durable du bois en Afrique centrale et renforcer la collaboration régionale. Dans le cadre de la 19e Réunion des Parties du Partenariat pour les Forêts du Bassin du Congo (PFBC) qui se tient à Libreville du 5 au 8 juillet 2022, des événements parallèles et de haut niveau pour la création de synergies et le partage d’expériences entre les partenaires du PFBC sont organisés. C’est dans cette optique que l’Organisation des Nations Unies pour l’alimentation et l’agriculture (FAO) prend une part active à cette rencontre pour partager les initiatives et bonnes pratiques de l’organisation en Afrique centrale en matière de gestion durable des forêts, de la faune et des chaînes de valeur durable du bois.
En effet, les experts de la FAO se joignent à d’autres parties prenantes pour animer quatre évènements parallèles les 5, 7 et 8 juillet au cours de la 19ème Réunion des Parties du Partenariat pour les Forêts du Bassin du Congo autour des thématiques ci-après : Chaînes de valeur durables du bois en Afrique centrale : répondre aux besoins de la neutralité climatique et des moyens de subsistance.
Développement participatif et basé sur la science et les droits des communautés de modèles de chasse villageoise durable : Expériences et Perspectives dans le Bassin du Congo. Estimation de la déforestation, de la dégradation et les moteurs directs actuels et historiques.
Rapport sur les résultats des évaluations réalisées pour renforcer les chaines de valeur durable du bois dans le bassin du Congo et le potentiel de collaboration régionale. En espaces ouverts et communicatifs, les évènements parallèles serviront de plateforme pour la création de synergies, ainsi que pour la diffusion et la discussion des résultats et des perspectives entre les différentes parties prenantes du secteur forêt et environnement membres du PFBC, y compris les onze États membres de la COMIFAC.
Ce sera donc l’occasion pour la FAO de promouvoir ses initiatives en appui aux pays de la sous-région d’Afrique centrale dans le secteur forestier et faunique. Au cours du deuxième évènement parallèle, le Programme de Gestion Durable de Faune Sauvage (SWM Programme), procédera, entre autres, au lancement officiel d’une nouvelle publication traitant de la thématique de la ‘’viande de brousse’’ au Gabon, et intitulée : Vers une gestion durable de la chasse villageoise ; Diagnostic approfondi du département de Mulundu et recommandations stratégiques .
Pour rappel, à travers son programme forestier, la FAO cherche à obtenir des effets transformationnels bénéfiques aux forêts et aux populations qui en sont tributaires et d’aider à la réalisation des objectifs du développement durable à l’horizon 2030 L’approche de la FAO veille à équilibrer les objectifs économiques, sociaux et environnementaux de façon à permettre à la génération présente de tirer parti des ressources forestières de la Terre tout en les conservant pour répondre aux besoins des générations futures.
