Gabon/journée mondiale de l’environnement, toute une semaine pour commémorer l’environnement
A l’occasion de la journée mondiale de l’Environnement, le ministre des Eaux et Forêts, de la Mer, de l’Environnement, chargé du Plan climat et du Plan d’Affectation des terres, le Prof. Lee White, a procédé le 5 juin 2023 dans la salle de l’auditorium du ministère des eaux et forêts, au lancement de la semaine nationale de l’environnement. C’était en présence des acteurs engagés dans la protection de l’environnement.
Organisée sous le thème « Solutions à la pollution plastique », la célébration de la journée mondiale de l’environnement suscite l’occasion de sensibiliser le grand publique aux enjeux de ce fléau, de favoriser une prise de conscience cruciale des conséquences environnementales et sanitaires y afférentes, et d’encourager l’acquisition des éco gestes pour lutter contre la pollution plastique. Cette édition est d’autant plus spéciale car elle s’inscrit dans le cadre de l’année dédiée à la jeunesse au sein des pays membres du Commonwealth et illustre la nécessité d’agir tous ensemble pour préserver l’environnement, ceci dès le plus jeune âge.
Lors de son allocution d’ouverture, le ministre de l’Environnement a rappelé que la nécessité d’agir tous ensemble pour trouver des solutions à ce fléau qui menace la santé humaine et l’environnement : « Des solutions à la pollution plastique est un objectif pour lequel chacun et chacune peut individuellement apporter une solution. Les plastiques sont aujourd’hui partout et de toute nature. La tendance actuelle pourrait nous conduire à avoir plus de plastique que de poissons dans les océans » a-t-il déclaré.
Dans un même élan, le Prof. Lee White a appelé à une action « collective continue et forte » afin d’inverser cette tendance et recommandé « d’éliminer de notre usage les plastiques non essentiels ; et de ne jeter aucune bouteille dans les poubelles ordinaires ou pire dans la rue mais uniquement dans les bacs de récupération afin qu’ils soient recyclés ».
A titre d’information, les déchets plastiques représentent près de 80% des déchets en mer. Les débris de plastiques nuisent notamment à la vie marine et les poissons et les crustacés que nous consommons ne sont pas épargnés. Le plastique toxique pour la faune et la flore est également nocif pour l’Homme.
La semaine nationale de l’environnement célébrée du 5 au 10 juin 2023 sera marquée par plusieurs temps forts, à savoir des activités telles que des actions de nettoyages, des conférences-débats, des visites découvertes.

Today, I went to the beach with my kids.
